Initial situation The ideation phase for their AI solution had been completed. John and Joe wanted to validate their business model in the thincubator and work on their idea with full focus for two weeks. Results During the 2 weeks they were able to validate the problem and approach with mentors and customer interviews. They also created an engaging pitch deck, gained a permanent mentor and an angel investor signed up. Status today John and Joe were able to secure an EXIST grant and participated in (and won) numerous AI/startup competitions. They are currently launching pilot projects with major industrial corporations.

Initial situation CU Mehrweg has set itself the goal of revolutionizing the food industry with a centrally controlled reusable system. With their reusable container system as packaging for food, they have already been nominated for the Green Allay Award Europe, a start-up prize for the circular economy. A field test in Freiburg meant that the reusable packaging for the Namnams brand could already be found in supermarkets. Results With their idea and a convincing pitch, the two won the thincubator Pitch Day 2023 & thus a media package worth €50,000 from Dieter von Holtzbrinck Ventures. They will use this to strengthen communication of the reusable system to end consumers in order to gradually make reusable packaging for food in supermarkets the norm. A pilot project is being planned.

Initial situation At the start of its participation in thincubator 2023, Skinmate was in a crucial phase. The idea for an app that supports people with skin problems was in beta testing and was to be presented to the world by the end of the year. Results Through its participation in thincubator 2023, Skinmate received the crucial support it needed to optimize its app. Workshops, mentoring and intensive exchange helped them to sharpen their business model and forge important partnerships. This significantly accelerated their development and scaling. Status today Since participating in the thincubator, Skinmate has made impressive progress. Their routine toolkit has been adapted based on user feedback, numerous improvements have been implemented and new features are about to be launched. User numbers have more than tripled and a revised business plan is targeting the official app launch in spring 2024.
